Wharton Hut is ideal for a peaceful couple’s get away. Sited a little away from the tents, is blessed with the tree tops view and sunsets in the evenings. It is furnished with a made-up, king size comfy bed, some storage and simple furniture. Hut is equipped with outdoor seating, fire pit and charcoal bbq for your convenience . There is a gas hob inside the hut and all utensils, cooking kit, small fridge, pots and pans and basic necessities are provided in its own outdoor kitchenette. There are plenty of fairy lights installed for the evenings as there is no electricity on our site. All lights are solar powered. Please bring a power bank (we’re happy to charge it for you at home) and a good torch. There also are some games, books and magazines for you to enjoy. More local information, maps and flyers are available from our Summer Kitchen.
For your convenience, the private composting toilet is located nearby, while conventional toilet and hot shower can be found a short stroll away in the valley in our Wash Shack. All bedlinen etc is provided so you can travel super light, please bring your own towels.
You will be able to park your car nearby.
We offer 2- 3 nights weekend breaks (Fri-Sun/Mon) and a min 2 nights mid week stays (Mon-Fri). Check in time is 4-7pm and check out 10:30am.
The Hawthorn Ridge and Tilia bell tents are located at one end of our secluded valley. They feel private but are not too distant from each other to allow two families to holiday together. We are sorry but we don’t allow stag / hen parties and loud gatherings, but more than happy to welcome small family groups ready to celebrate a special occasion, friends’ reunions and get-togethers.
If you choose to holiday with your four legged family member our Tilia tent will warmly welcome you and your dog. Although they need to be on the lead at all times and under your control, you also have access to a large ( nearly one acre!) purpose built and secure dog pen for all off-lead play, exercise and fun! They will love it!
Our spacious (6m), fully equipped and furnished bell tents are set up on raised platforms and can sleep 2 adults (on a comfortable, made-up double bed with a real mattress) and 3 children on comfy futons and camp beds ready with the bottom sheets and pillows (please byo children’s bedding or alternatively we have a limited number of sleeping bags for hire). If you are blessed with more children, please contact us directly as we can accommodate extra beds. Addition of an awning expands your sheltered and usable space and pretty fairy lights and solar lamps add to the charm of camping with comforts and enjoying outdoors. There are also some spare blankets and hot water bottles provided.
Designated car parking area is available slightly away from the bell tents. You are welcome to drive your car for loading on check-in/out only.
In holiday time we offer 3 nights weekend breaks (Fri-Mon) and 4 nights mid week stays (Mon-Fri), off peak we’re more flexible with an option of 2 nights mid week stay. Check in time is 4-7pm and check out 10:30am.
We are offering 2, off-grid woodland camping pitches located in our valley, amongst ponds and meadows. It’s nearly-wild camping with additional comfort of flushing toilets, and hot water!
To accommodate both individual campers and families the tent pitching spots are generous in size, fitting one or two medium tents. Each area has a picnic bench and fire pit. If you are staying together you can pitch your tents in one of the two spots, available. When staying separately, the two areas are well spaced out from each other. Pitches are as flat and level as we can make them without too much disturbance to nature.
Flushing toilet and shower are located in our Wash Shack, along with dedicated washing-up station and small gas fridge to share. There is no freezer as there is no electricity here, but we are more than happy to refreeze your ice blocks and recharge your power banks. You will need good torches and lamps.
Designated car parking area is available slightly away from the pitches, you are welcome to drive your car for loading on check-in/out.
We are flexible with check in days. Minimum stay is 3 nights. Check in time 4-7pm and check out 12:00 noon.
Whole Site Booking? No problem!
For your special occasions, family birthdays, friends’ reunions, anniversaries and small celebrations…. why not book a whole site exclusively for yourselves?
The beautiful valley leans itself for small gatherings.
A mix of glamping and camping accommodation is available and additional glamping units can be added from external company. Generally, 6-7 families can stay together very comfortably: 2-4 families camping and two in the comfort of our glamping bell tents and a couple of adults in the shepherd’s hut. Please ring or email to enquire.
( unfortunately we can’t accept stag or hen dos and louder groups – sorry! we are sure you would find a more suitable site with more festival vibe)
In ‘The Summer Kitchen’, exclusive for only two families glamping in our bell tents, you will find all equipment for your cooking and dining needs:
wood fired oven, Argentinian asado grill, charcoal BBQs, fridge, washing up facilities, drinking water, gas hob and extensive selection of utensils, cutlery, crockery and saucepans and pans, plus some essentials like oil, salt, some spices, teabags, alu-foil etc. to start you off or if you left something behind. Worth knowing is that our most local shop – The Lea Stores is well stocked up with most items you may need during your stay, so no need to fret! We also grow some nice herbs for you… you can usually find some parsley, oregano, basil, rosemary and chives growing… oh! and some mint for your cheeky G&T!
Our renovated ‘Wash Hut’ is conveniently located in the central position in the valley. It is only short stroll away from anywhere you are at the campsite. There are three wash rooms at the campsite equipped with showers, flushing toilets and basins.
Two are exclusively reserved for our Bell Tent guests ( Bell tents benefit of their private facilities), and the largest one (family size) is for our shepherd’s hut and camping guests.
There is also a washing-up station for our nearly-wild pitches and a small fridge for your convenience. Bins are located near-by: general waste bin, compost bin and mixed recycling. All information regarding our recycling is clearly displayed around the campsite.
In the Wash Hut you will also find a small corner with games, books, activity ideas, volleyball set, maps, guides and leaflets for local attractions.
There also is local information for emergencies and simple First Aid Kit.
There is also Asgard BIKE STORE for your convenience, for any cycles you wish to store under a roof.
This one… hmm is a work in progress type of thing!
It is an old Polytunnel which is now reduced in size and kept as an additional shelter if the weather isn’t playing ball.
All a bit rustic and simple, but there is a mud kitchen and a Wendy house to keep the smaller guests occupied, some straw bales to sit on and a table tennis. Please just don’t bring any flames under the roof… no firepits, candles or bbq – thanks.
Undecided? Something not overly straightforward? You are after something a little bit different? Questions? Can’t make your mind up? If you think we can help – GIVE US A CALL or DROP US A MESSAGE please! We are very accommodating, flexible and open for ideas!
